According to our experience, Basonat® HB polyisocyanates can be stored for 6 months from the date of delivery if kept in tightly sealed original containers, protected from humidity at temperatures from 10 °C (50 °F) to 30 °C (86 °F). After re-filling from original containers, a shorter shelf life should be expected. |

diluent tolerance | Basonat® HB polyisocyanates can be diluted with esters (e. g. butylacetate), ketones (e. g. methyl ethyl ketone), glycolether acetates(e. g. methoxypropyl acetate) or with aromatic hydrocarbons (e. g.Solvesso® 1 100, xylene). | |||||||||||||
If Basonat® HB polyisocyanates are diluted to a polyisocyanatefraction of less than 40 %, turbidity, flocculation and/or sediment-ation may occur during storage. Storage trials should always becarried out. |

field of application | Basonat® HB polyisocyanates are used to formulate particularly lightfast and weather-resistant coatings. Aliphatic polyisocyanates are sometimes even used in primers for difficult substrates such as aluminum or various plastics, e. g., when composites are to be coated. | |
Basonat® HB 100 is used to formulate coatings in which the sol-vents contained in the other Basonat® HB grades would provetroublesome (e. g., aromatic hydrocarbons excessively solubilizingpolystyrene). | ||

Solvents, pigments or extenders etc. used should be free from compounds containing active hydrogen groups, e. g., water, alcohols or amines. | ||||||||||
A water content of less than 500 ppm in solvents and binders in two-component polyurethane lacquers is proven and tested. |
Safety |
Basonat ® HB polyisocyanates are reactive polyfunctional isocyanates containing traces of hexamethylene-1,6-diisocyanate, requiring adequate protection measures. Thus they may only be used in industrial or professional applications. They are not suitable for do-it-yourself applications. |
